Ask and you shall receive.

"Ask, and it shall be given
Seek, and ye shall find
Knock, and it shall be opened."

Several weeks ago, I sat in bed thinking to myself, "I should probably look into getting a second job." Not 24 hours later, Cedars of Lebanon called saying they wanted to hire me, even though it had been months since I applied.

Last night I got off work at Cedars and spent the time I should be sleeping laying in bed thinking about how I can NOT hack it in that restaurant; as you learned from my previous post. SO this morning I write the last blog. Then I get to the spa and the owner asks how my job at the restaurant is going. After a short rant of how the job is breaking my spirit she says, "Well, we just had to get rid of the two receptionists, would you be interested in working as one of our receptionists part time? As many hours as you want, but not mornings."
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not EVEN 24 hours went by this time before a new opportunity presented itself to me!!

So I spent the first half of the day deliberating what would be the best choice for me. To which I concluded: I would be a FOOL to not take the receptionist job! I love the spa and want to help it succeed however I can. I really like the owners and would love to be able to help them out. PLUS, then I get to see more about what running a spa is actually like. GREAT education for my future, and will definitely look shiny on my resume. BESIDES, I love being in the spa!! It's a job that I know I wouldn't dread going to. So of course, I HAD to take it!

THEN, I spent the rest of the day trying to figure out how I am going to quit at the restaurant. I am not a quitter, and since I am a total people-pleaser disappointment is not something I do well. On top of wondering about that I was also dreading going in tonight.
THEN, I get off work at the spa to a message waiting for me, "Crystal, the restaurant is dead tonight, so don't bother coming in tonight. Thanks."

THANK YOU UNIVERSE!!!!!!
(She screams into the night like a fireman going to a building that has no fire..)

My point, if there is one, is that you should never EVER disregard the power of the Universe. If you want something and you ask the universe for it, with good faith, the universe will answer you. Of course you need to ask for something reasonable and something you deserve. Life has a tendency to get so intense and heavy at times, you just have to remember that the Universe and your angels are here to take care of you. You are never alone. Have faith, and the faith will guide you through.

I am SO ECSTATIC I don't even know what to do with myself!!!!! AHHHH!!!
I figure a glass of wine and a ranting blog is a good way to start... Now, what next? .....

Dear Waiters Everywhere,

I would like to commend you on your many, MANY, unnoticed efforts to keep the world of eater-outers fed. Bravo! I'm sure your many numerous talents do not get recognized as they should. Each and every one of you deserve a damn medal! So thank you THANK YOU! For doing your job so diligently somehow with a smile on your face. You are amazing.

On that note: Serving is f*cking HARRRRRRD!!! Holy shit! This restaurant job is, hands down, THE most stressful job I have EVER had! The place is just downright chaotic. Ever since starting this job I have found myself not able to get to sleep as I lay awake going over the Lebanese/Moroccan dishes and beverages I need to have memorized. I also find myself trying to figure out how to multi-task better and how to please the many different people who are always shouting different orders at me.
I feel instantly stressed and irritable when I enter that restaurant and then when I leave I am so relieved and exhausted that I want to cry. I have found myself right back into the throw of almost every persons' dreaded reality: The hating of your job.
I LOVE my job at the spa! I love helping people feel more relaxed and at peace on a daily basis. That's who I am, I'm a healer. I absorb and reflect the energy around me, so I like to keep that energy positive and uplifting. The energy in the restaurant is everything but. Even if it's not busy (which it usually is) people find something to be stressed out about. And there is almost always someone snapping at someone else for whatever reason and people shouting and cursing in languages I can't even understand, none-the-less, I can't ignore it and go on with my commonly chipper attitude. Instead I find myself retreating and walking around like a terrified bunny rabbit who doesn't dare say anything cause I don't want to step on anyone's toes.
(picture that: a terrified bunny rabbit. aw sad.)
Needless to say, I don't think I will make it as a server. I just do not mesh well with extremely hectic atmosphere. I do not want to spend my entire week dreading going to work. I want to enjoy what I do. That's why I went to school and got licensed in what I am passionate about. Helping people. Helping people relax, not eat.

I will be finding a different second job.

SIDE NOTE: Do not let this derail you from visiting the restaurant!! Cedars of Lebanon has AMAZZZZZING food! and the weekend entertainment is worth the trip in itself! Besides, you can hookah when you're done eating. Not a lot of places you can do that around here.

Eating at Cedars=Good. Working at Cedars=Hard.
See the distinction?

Workin girl!

I guess it's time for an update:
So after many many months of sweet sweet unemployment, (we don't need to get technical about numbers and such) Crystal has found herself not one job, but TWO!

I now work as a Massage Therapist Sat-Tues at
Akasha Spa and Salon.

It is an absolutely gorgeous spa! Seriously, the best I've seen in all of Salt Lake. I highly recommend anyone wanting a day of relaxation to come in and check it out.
[And for those of you who look at the prices and think "no way!" well, you can still give me a call for a massage and we can work out something outside of the spa.]

I am currently working on a website, which you can see here:

Please visit it for updates, it's just getting set up, so stay tuned!

Also, I got a serving job at the restaurant
Cedars of Lebanon.

I JUST got the job, so I'm not entirely sure what my schedule is going to be like there. But this is also a place you should come and check out! It is not just a restaurant, but a totally unique dining experience! The food is Morrocan and Lebanese. They have hookah lounges and on weekends also have belly dancers. The food is PHENOMENAL! (Food is Kosher & vegetarian friendly)

Neither of these places have a "Utah feel" to them. Which has been just perfect for someone like me who is just itchin to get out of here. They both offer completely unique experiences in a city so full of the same predictive things.

The biggest thing I am loving about having these two jobs is that they are so different. At the spa I am mostly on call, so I don't HAVE to be there if I don't have an appointment, which gives me a good amount of free time to do errands and chores etc. Also, naturally, the spa is very relaxed and slow-paced and since I am doing massage it helps keep me in my preferred 'zen-like' state of mind. Then the restaurant is more active and fast-paced so I can run around and get out all the built-up energy while I get to mingle and chat with all kinds of people. They balance each other out splendidly! And well, that's what life is all about: Balance.

I have seriously been so blissful and at peace with life recently that it is almost unfair. I hear about other people's problems and dramas and I can't help but feel truly blessed for how incredible my life is right now. I don't have a single thing to complain about. -Well except for the fact that I'm still in Utah and the total lack of ocean and beaches here. :P But even that doesn't bother me in comparison to all the wonderful things I DO have!
Added to that list is my mom! My very amazing mother is back from her winter in Florida!
I just couldn't be happier. If I was given three wishes right now... I would dedicate them to other people. (which is usually what I do with "wishes" anyways.)

Life is amazing.
I hope my happiness can radiate out to everyone around me and somehow uplift their life as well.

~Namaste~
