Fall <3

I heart fall. I love the weather and the colors. The colors have only started to change here, but there is definitely a chill in the air. A little rain on and off, but also sun, on and off. I'm excited to see if I have a snow-less winter this year.... How strange will that feel?

Oh Zooey...

I know this video is a commercial for cotton fabric. But it just makes me happy. I love every little scene and think this looks like the most wonderful way to spend a day. Not to mention I have a seriously huge crush on Zooey Deschanel. She is MARVELOUS!!!

That being said, I am also in LOVE her band, "She and Him." Her voice is just so magical!!! And the music is just quaint, and simple and absolutely lovely.

This video is whacked, but I love every bit of it. :)

"Toes"

So since I've been hanging out with a cowboy I have to admit, I've developed quite the appreciation for country music.
(Not to mention I've also, worn boots, rode horses, shot guns, help build a fence, gone country swing dancing, tried chew, and of course, listened to lots of country music.)
I used to not care for much of it, but a few songs here and there, but the more and more I've listened to it, I've decided that it really is the basic form of all music and it is actually really really good. I don't have much else to say on the topic, but I simply wanted to share this music video with you. It's by the Zac Brown Band. Every song they write is so fun and cheerful, I just love them. Tell me this video doesn't make you happy. It's called "Toes."

And this one is probably my favorite, it doesn't have an actual video yet, so this is the best I could find. It's called "Where the boat leaves from" it just makes me giddy. :)

A very beachy Sunday

Yesterday, after a long Saturday night of listening to mass amounts of new Portland talent at a bar with way too many red lights; we decided to nurse our hang-overs by cruising over to the beach. Due to us sleeping in, we didn't arrive until the afternoon, so it was a bit too chilly to want to get in the water, course the waves were rather harsh and unwelcoming as well, so I don't know if I would have done much water play regardless.

We started with a DELICIOUS dinner at a place called Norma's Diner. (The name is probably what made me choose it because I have a Grandma Norma... who I love and miss) The meal consisted of cocktail shrimp, bread, a fantastic salad w/ homemade (or so they said) blue cheese dressing, salmon, and oysters. Wow. I thought I was gonna blow up when we were done. But I gotta say, you can't beat fresh seafood right on the beach.

I mostly took this picture so you could see what was on the label of my beer. If you can't read it, it says,
"12 fluid ounces of ridiculously tasty original amber ale, concocted by our massive brewforce of 47. Specialists in the liquid refreshment arts since 1987"
I thought it was hilarious.

And now, some pictures of the beach:

Have you ever seen a swing set on the beach?!? Cause I sure haven't, and I LOVE it!!!

Gotta love that salty ocean air...

A cowboy on the beach?

(Well for some reason it is taking like 5+ minutes per picture upload,
so I will have to upload the rest later)

Good Times.

Planet Earth

Yesterday evening, after the rain storm, god reminded us that he is not planning to flood the Earth with a beautiful rainbow!

Also the other day we went up to get a closer look at Mt. St Helen's. We watched a video of the eruption and learned all about volcano's in the observatory. Crazy stuff. It's amazing how drastically this world can change just from one second to the next.
Here's a picture of what it used to look like:

And here's what it looks like now:

And here's just a cool picture I found.

Here's a real tree that they put in the observatory... this is what they all looked like after St. Helens decided to take a deathly explosive dump on all of them.

And THIS guy literally stopped, read that sign (or maybe he was pretending to read it)
and yet, continued to walk down the grassy pathway. hahaha people are ridiculous.

It was all really cool :)

R.I.P. Patrick Swayze

The gorgeous and graceful Patrick Swayze passed away today. I would just like to pay my respects and say that he was definitely one of the sexiest men to grace this planet, and I will always and forever love your films: 'Dirty Dancing', 'Ghost', and most of all, 'To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar.'

Kitty Painting...

I don't know how any cat could/would sit through this, but I guess there are places where you can get your cat painted up all fancy like. (I got this in an e-mail) Apparently it lasts about three months, or until their fur grows out, or something like that. Pretty cool looking stuff. Except some people can be so cruel to their pets, some pictures had their cats painted like clowns and such. Jerks. Anywho, if I could afford it, I would have them paint my kitty like this for Halloween. So fun!

God I love halloween!

Crazy kitty eyes...

I just realized I didn't post any pictures of my drive home... Well, I mostly just wanted to show you my cat. Have you ever seen a cat on sedatives?!? It forces their third eyelid (that's what the vet called it) to come out and almost take over their eye!! I'm so glad he warned me of this, cause when it happened, I freaked out a little.
She mostly just slept the entire time (as expected). Every now and then she would open her sleepy little eyes and attempt to look around. --I don't know if she could actually see all that well, I imagine her vision must have been similar to ours when we've had a few too many drinks. But that's just my observation-- Also a couple times she would try to climb up front off her cozy little pouch to lay in my lap... she could barely stand and wobbled like a drunk. It was adorable.

See.....Creepy!!

So we covered them up...

hello flash...

The house on the lake

Just wanted to check in since I've haven't written an actual blog about life lately. Nothing has changed, I've still just been relaxing here in the house on the lake. I have started reading Twilight again.... i know... watch out.

This weekend I went and saw David Allen Coe in concert...it was the night before his birthday, the man is now 70 years old!!! I can't believe he is still doing concerts. If you don't know who he is, look him up. He one of the original "outlaw cowboys" from back in the day. Some of his best friends include Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, and Merle Haggard. He is a badass, and still puts on a great show.
The show was at an outdoor "amphitheater" .....which I put in quotations because it wasn't so much an "amphitheater" as much as an outdoor covered stage. And thanks to the predictability of the northwest weather, it rained (on and off) on us. But that didn't make it any less fun.

I finally got offered a job... it is at a bank. It is very nice pay and I'm sure there are benefits, (I haven't covered all the details yet) it's located in Portland. The only downfall would be that I would have to drive for an hour to get there, and another hour to get home. But I can do it. The sooner I start getting a paycheck, the sooner I move down to Portland anyways.

Really nothing else to report worth reporting. Hope everyone enjoyed their Labor Day weekends!!! (I bet it'd mean more to me if I actually had a job to take time off of.. ha)
I need a beer....

P.S. Did you know that Miller Light has only 64 calories?!?! YUP! It is my new favorite beer!!! It's pretty much the same as Pabst (course in a taste test, I still chose my trusty PBR) except Pabst has 210 calories.

Life is backwards

(someone sent me this in an e-mail a while ago...I love it)

The most unfair thing about life is the way it ends. Life is tough. It takes up a lot of your time. What do you get in the end of it? A death. What's that, a bonus? The life cycle is all backwards. You should die first, you know, start out dead, get it out of the way. You wake up in an old age home, feeling better every day. You get kicked out for being too healthy, go collect your pension, then, when you start work, you get a gold watch on your first day. You work 40 years until you're young enough to enjoy your retirement. You drink like a fish, party your ass off, and screw anything that moves - you've only got a few years left, so why not?!? Then you get ready for High School. You go to primary school, you become a kid, you play, you have no responsibilities, you become a baby, then, you spend your last 9 months floating peacefully with luxuries like central heating, spa, room service on tap, larger quarters everyday, and then you finish off as an orgasm!

On the road to find out....

As I was driving up to Montana just a few months ago, this song by Cat Stevens began singing to me from my speakers. It was a song I have heard many times before, but hearing it this time the lyrics REALLY spoke to me and I could relate to the song in a way I couldn't before. On my drive back to Washington today, I heard the song again, and remembered how I wanted to post it here. So even though it fully related with me months ago, I would still like to share these lyrics with you:
(course I highly recommend just listening to the song)

"Well I left my happy home to see what I could find out
I left my folk and friends with the aim to clear my mind out
Well I hit the rowdy road and many kinds I met there
Many stories told me of the way to get there

So on and on I go, the seconds tick the time out
There's so much left to know, and I'm on the road to find out

Well in the end I'll know, but on the way I wonder
Through descending snow, and through the frost and thunder

Well, I listen to the wind come howl, telling me I have to hurry
I listen to the robin's song saying not to worry

So on and on I go, the seconds tick the time out
There's so much left to know, and I'm on the road to findout

Then I found myself alone, hopin' someone would miss me
Thinking about my home, and the last woman to kiss me, kiss me

But sometimes you have to moan when nothing seems to suit yer
But nevertheless you know you're locked towards the future

So on and on you go, the seconds tick the time out
There's so much left to know, and I'm on the road to findout

Then I found my head one day when I wasn't even trying
And here I have to say, 'cause there is no use in lying, lying

Yes the answer lies within, so why not take a look now?
Kick out the devil's sin, pick up, pick up a good book now.."

I love thee Cat Stevens <3>

Farewell thee Utah...

So this is my last day in this fine state. I had a wonderful time relaxing at mi madres, eating my last time at Desert Edge, taking a ride in a transforming volvo up Emigration Canyon, playing sexual dominos, and of course seeing all of the people that I love and will miss. So exciting to see my kitty again... she did great at the vet... So hopefully she will do well with the 13+ hour drive ahead of us tomorrow. (and I pray she learns to like dogs...ugh)

Today we are going to go golfing, and maybe go down and see that big mall they put in down there by the Ogden temple... since I have yet to see it, and people say it's cool.

It feels very surreal to look around this place and realize that it might be a very long time before I see it again. You really start noticing things in a new light when you think you are looking at them for the last time. I'm sure I'll be back again, to visit... however when my Mom finally sells the house and moves closer to me... well, then I don't know if I'll be back for quite sometime. Especially since most of my favorite people all have plans to move too.

Well I will end with the pictures of my favorite Utah people:
My son, daughter, husband, and uncle Jack

My ladies, Janelle and Leslie

The Volvo ride, with another fav: Adam

and of course, my mommy

Until next time Utah... Farethee Well!!!

*loves*
