Muscles

  • Deltoid
  • Rhomboids Minor
  • Rhomboids Major
  • Levator Scapulae
  • Trapezius
  • Serratus Anterior
  • Pectoralis Minor
  • Supraspinatus
  • Infraspinatus
  • Teres Minor
  • Subscapularis
  • Pectoralis Major
  • Lattissimus Dorsi
  • Terres Major
  • Subclavius

I have a test on these tonight. Sounds easy enough right?! WRONG. I also have to know all of the attachments, the Cranial Nerve that controls each, and ALL of the actions that the muscles perform. This is the first batch of 110 that I will be learning in the next 8 weeks. ONE HUNDRED AND TEN!!! Yikes. Seriously, fucking, yikes.

On another note, I had a rockin weekend! On saturday I worked, THEN I did THREE batches of laundry, washed my car, went grocery shopping, cleaned my apartment, did my dishes, bathed myself, and had an awesome date at the totally awesome Desert Edge. mmmmmm....

(A day of productivity brought to you by Aderol)

On Sunday, Jefe had his annual DOME BBQ... where the crew from way back in the day get together to reminisce. It was an awesomely good time.
The day ended with a hookah session and the new show "Life" on the discovery channel. (
or is it the travel channel?)

PLUS Ariele is here visiting!!! SO I got to see her pretty face!
In fact, we're going to have a sleep over tonight!! YAY!!!

All in All, a very VERY great weekend.
Now, back to studying my muscles......

A few movies to mention

The Invention of Lying
I just want to share with everyone that this movie, is one of the funniest movies I've seen in quite a while! So clever, so original, and so immensely entertaining to watch.
Ricky Gervais is a comical genius!!
A world where people can't lie... wow, what a concept.
SEE IT!

This movie was just as I expected it to be. Very cute, and very real. The relationship they portray is so relate-able, at least for most people. The heartbreak is also very relate-able (again for most) and actually pretty tangible. I loved the storyline and especially the ending.
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.
(Plus, it has Zooey Deschanel... who I am totally smitten by... so that was a bonus)

Now I bring this movie up because most people haven't seen it, or even heard of it... which is just sad. This movie in its original form (from 2007) is totally and completely HYSTERICAL!!! I actually own it...and I don't own a ton of movie. It is laugh-out-loud comical!

The reason I'm really writing about this movie, is that I recently found out that they have already made a re-make of it that will be coming out next month. Why fix something when it ain't broke?!? I think this is so ridiculous. I guess they thought it needed more black people..??
!!NO OFFENSE!!!
I just really don't understand why they would re-make a film only three years after it's release. ???

Here's the new one:

This is a paragraph I copied from IMDB in reference to the new version of this film:

"This movie is a remake of a 2007 movie of the same name, Death at a Funeral (2007). Although Hollywood has a history of making American versions of foreign films, the original versions are usually in a language other than English. This is not the case here, however, since the original film was a British production and filmed in English, with an American director (who was, as it happens, born in England) and several American actors (including Peter Dinklage, who repeats his role in the remake). This is a very unusual case of a remake being made very quickly of an English-language movie that had a theatrical release in the US (albeit not a very successful one)."

I plan to see the new one of course... To see how it compares to the old one.
I'm sure it will be funny because the script is wonderful, and they got a very good cast for it.

That's all for now.

Jogging Update

So about 30 seconds (yeah SECONDS) into my jog...(that I randomly decided to take today) I got a wrenching side ache. Ouch. I am super-duper out of shape. I lasted only about 15 minutes. Wow. I'm a hot mess. :(

BUT I also have two funny stories:

Story #1: As I was (barely) jogging passed this house, I notice a bare footed kid standing in the driveway. He has a big shit-eating grin on his face as he watches me get closer. As I approach, he then holds both of his arms up in the air and shouts, "LOOK I'm smoking!"
The kid is holding the butt of a cigarette that apparently someone (his mom I bet) has discarded but not stomped out. The mom (i presume) who was chatting with some other lady on the porch, jumps and and screams, "OSCAR NO!!! OH MY GOD!!!" She's wearing 6 inch heels and starts chasing (wobling) after the kid, who naturally starts running away. Her heel breaks and she almost eats pavement. I started jogging after the kid too, I lightly grab his arm and pull him to a stop. He drops the cig and the mom limps up and stomps it out. She proceeds to apologize to me, and I can not hold back the laughter.
Some people.

Story #2: I get back into my apartment just as the side ache starts to desist. I notice a new note on the board from the apartment manager. It reads, "Dear tenants; Please be considerate when lighting incense in your apartment. Please keep a window open when doing so, so that it doesn't drift up into other people's apartments and make them sick. Thank you."

HA HA F*CKING HA HA!! Ooooops. My bad.

Today rocks.

Slumber Party!

Last night,
I had a good ole fashioned sleepover with my new favorite girlie Zrinka.

It was a BLAST!!! We drank Vodka and cranberry juice, and shared stories. All night long. (well until two or so) We watched videos on youtube and sang to Ingrid Michaelson and Lilly Allen. We talked about life, love, loss, girlfriends, boyfriends, and even boogers. Later, we climbed in bed and shared ghost stories. It was a smashing good time! The only thing that was missing was a board game, like Dream Phone. Next time. I haven't done anything like that in a long time. And it was EXACTLY what I needed. :)

We even saged my apartment. In retrospect, we were probably too drunk to be handling fire...we lit the sage too much and couldn't get it to go out...for a long time. My entire apartment is loaded with the smell of sage. (Not that that's necessarily a bad thing) I even just opened up my closet door and was punched in the face by the overwhelming scent that came bellowing out. My apartment must be damn cleansed.

Today she is going to take me shopping! And thank god too... I need some SERIOUS help in the wardrobe department. This girl ain't got NO style. And Zrinka is all style. I feel so good right now I think I might even go for a jog! ...I know right?! Me?! Jogging?! Yup. I'm gonna go right now.

Hiccups/Yawns

I can't remember the last time I had the hiccups. I currently have the hiccups. In between hiccuping, I yawned. These are two unexplainable acts of the human body. Currently, they still don't know why we do either of these things. The theory behind it is that your body feels it needs more oxygen, so it is grasping for it in quick large gulps. You'd think after everything we know about the human body, they would know why these things happen. They don't.

[May I also add that yawning truly is contagious. As I was looking up this picture... just looking at PICTURES of yawning, made me want to yawn. So strange.]

Clearly, I'm not breathing deep enough today. I dislike the hiccups tremendously. They are totally obnoxious to me. But at least it's not the drunken hiccups... cause those NEVER end. At least with regular hiccups I can drink water upside down. It works every time. I swear to you! At least it works for me. I know everyone has their own theories/solutions. (One time, someone told me to hop on one foot, while spinning in a circle, and spraying ketchup in my mouth... that that would get rid of them- I told them to eff off. Ketchup? come on. please.)

Wanna know another thing about the human body that we don't fully understand? Muscle contraction. We only have a THEORY about what happens. They know that calcium and ACH are definitely involved, but everything else is just a hypothesis. Wanna watch a cool video that explains it? Well you probably don't... but I'll include the site just in case:
http://www.blackwellpublishing.com/matthews/myosin.html
(I have a test on this on Monday)

I'm also currently learning about all the body's "endangerment sites," and boy do we have a ton. We are learning all the ways we can royally eff someone up if we do something wrong while massaging them. I have to admit... it's quite intimating. My teacher said he had a student working on him in class one time and the student pushed too hard on his popliteal (behind the knee) and BROKE HIS KNEE!!!! AHHHH!!! Can you imagine?! That would be SO scary. I would ball my eyes out if I did ANYTHING that hurt the person I was working on! Also, makes me kinda scared to realize that I have had, and will have, students working on me!! Eek.

Anyways, just felt like droppin some knowledge on y'all.

Happy Sunny Saturday!

I have the giggles

I'm pretty sleep deprived today, and I'm also pretty sure I still had alcohol in my system when I got to work. The outcome? I've had the giggles all day long.

Here's a list of things that made me smile/laugh today:

"Where's your smile today, Brandon?"
"In my pocket."

"Mr. GurgleTummy"

"I should have written a note and taped it to your forehead....
And the note would say, 'GOO-LAY!' "

"The color orange makes me thirsty."

"The strawberries taste like strawberries!"

"Do you think taffy town has rides?"
"rides you can eat!"

"Screw you guys! I'm gonna go grab all the stuffed animals and have tea party!"

And finally, my new office assistant:

I seriously crack myself up. :P

Laugh Out Loud!!

New Apt.

Here I am sitting in my new apartment, looking around and thinking about how much I LOVE this apartment. It's one of my favorites that I've had. And I realized that a lot of people haven't come to see it yet. So I decided to post some pics for you.

Here's the OLD apartment:
(the one in the back of the building)

And here's the NEW one:
(in the front of the building)

I realize now, looking at these pictures... that they look pretty damn similar. But I tell ya, it's amazing what a difference natural sunlight makes. PLUS this one has the tiny porch. There's still work to be done... Pictures to put up, etc. But I think it's a very cozy place!
Heart. :)

St. Patrick's Day

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY
EVERYBODY!!!
Tis the holiday to get piss drunk and pretend yer Irish!!!

This has always been my 2nd favorite holiday!
(2nd to halloween of course)
Seeing so much green around just makes me joyful!!!
Seriously, the color green makes me giddy.
(if you didn't already realize that)

[I learned from my teacher/spiritual guide at school that there is a way to get so in tune with yourself and the world around you, that you can actually start to smell, taste, and get emotions from a color. And everyone perceives it differently. Isn't that cool!?!
I bet green would smell and taste sweet, and make me feel tickley.]

Anyways, the unfortunate chore of life has me working AND going to school on this fine Holiday, when what I should really be doing is drinking and dancing on my front lawn, pinching all the people who walk by and aren't wearing green. Makin a real ass of myself... ya know.
That's what I SHOULD be doing.
I still intend to go out after school. I get done at 10:35, so that's still time to boogie!
(PLUS I have tomorrow off for recovery time! WOO!)

I hope everyone is celebrating this holiday the way it is meant to be celebrated...
With beer and whiskey. :)
And if you don't drink.... uh....
well then.... I hope you're drinking... green kool-aid!?
(is there such a thing?)

AND If you're in the mood for a good Irish movie... let me suggest:

Brilliant flick.

CHEERS ALL!

GLEE

Oh lordy... So I didn't start watching this show until a couple weeks ago. I mostly started watching it to see what all the hype was about. Plus, the fact that they sing and dance is an obvious hook for someone like me.
Unfortunately on Hulu you can only find episodes 9-13 right now, therefore those are the only ones I've seen. I just barely finished the season finale. To which I must conclude: I AM HOOKED!! I LOVE IT!!! And seriously...EVERY SINGLE EPISODE brought tears to my eyes!!! Every. Single. One.

This is just SUCH a tender storyline with very relate-able characters in very relate-able situations. And come on, who doesn't wish that you could express yourself with song and dance and just randomly break out into a musical performance throughout the day?!?! I know I do!!! (Yes, I'm shouting this sentence)

I'm in total adoration of Lea Michele! (she plays Rachel) I think she is so fun to watch. She is gorgeous and has wonderful facial expressions... not to mention that voice!!! OH MYLANTA!!!
___________________________________________________________
Side Note:
'Mylanta' is something I started using in place of a swear word
to derail myself from having potty mouth at work.
____________________________________________________________

Since starting it, my very favorite past time at night has been to climb in a hot bubble bath with a glass of wine and watch an episode of Glee. They need to get to the next season ASAP, as I am now all out of episodes to watch! :(

All and all this show is just as fabulous as everyone says it is. I applaud them for finally coming out with a show with a bit of originality. Congrats! and I thank you.

Now the real question... where can I find a glee club to join????

B.F.F.

Best Friends For Ever.
4 Eva.
You know it, you know it well... you've seen it in your yearbook for years and years and years. [and if you haven't... er... well, sorry. ] So many people write this to one another, and so many people say it.... But how many people actually mean it?

U R 2 QT 2 B 4GOTTEN

Watching that video that I just posted really made me think about best friends. This is something that I've been thinking of for several years now; ...basically ever since my 'best friend,' Kaitlin, moved to California and forced the "unbreakable" link in our friendship-chain, to get stretched, and then almost entirely snapped and broken.
From the time we were 10 till we were 20 we were inseparable. We practically lived at each other's houses, and referred to the other's family as, 'our 2nd family.' When one of us wouldn't go to school everyone seemed awed and amazed that they other was by herself.
"Where's Kaitlin today" they'd ask me...
"I don't know, at home I imagine." They all expected that we woke up every day and immediately called each other. (which we actually sometimes did.)
After that many years of a friendship, we got to the point of obnoxious when it came to inside jokes. We had more inside jokes than any two people should have. (which I think was a beautiful thing)
But now times are different. I moved to Salt Lake and she moved to California, and those two moves basically marked then end of a beautiful life of best friends. Even though she is back in the state, and we still talk and see each other occasionally, it just isn't the same.

For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to be a twin. I have always wanted to have at least one person around me. (and if it was a blood relative, they'd be forced to stick around)
I don't mind being alone, and I also don't mind being in crowds... but there's something special to me about having that one other person. The one person that makes you comfortable enough to know that you don't need anyone else around to enjoy yourself. This person can be a significant other (and obviously, that's what we're all longing for), but it can also just be a best friend.

Male or female. Human or animal. Real or pretend.
It's all in what they mean to you.

A great example is my Sophmore year of high school. The curse (or joy) of moving up to high school is the breaking up of cliques. Friends started hanging out with other friends, some friends got boyfriends or girlfriends, and some friends you just plain get sick of. So because of this, I found myself in a triangle. A wonderful and fabulous tri-friend-angle. It was me, Kaitlin, and Lora. And seriously, that was about it. Sure we went to the high school get-togethers here and there, and still occasionally hung out with others...but we found we just had more fun with each other.
We spent a large chunk of our time complaining about what losers we were... but even so, we were always having a kick ass time! There was never a night that we spent bored. We were almost always laughing. We all knew we could fully rely on one another for anything, at anytime. So even though at the time we felt like "losers," I look back on that year and realize that we were really, "winners." (cheeeezzzzy enough for you???)

In conclusion, this is what I'm longing for now. A true blue best friend. Sure I have great friends. Very great friends in fact! Several I do consider my 'best friends'... but none of them the BEST. Ya know? (no offense anyone!!!)
I know that at any possible moment of any day my friends could leave, move out of state, get a significant other and disappear (the way people in relationships do), or even just stop wanting to hang out. And that's fine. That's life. You are the star of your own movie and you need to take care of your #1 star first. I get that. I just want a compatible co-star who wants to be in my movie for the long haul.

I guess I'm just a lonesome Thelma looking for my Louise.
A Romy looking for her Michelle...

Oh the chapters of my life.....
Love you ladies!

"I'll dance with you Romy..."

(Lora, I don't have a good enough picture of us....[digital photo that is]
Let's remedy that!)

Secret

And now this band.
Once again, thank you Pandora.
You rock my world.

Points of thought today..

  • First off: I know I look tired... it's because I AM tired. Please stop pointing it out.
  • I attempted my first "spiritual journey" last night... (which if the word 'spiritual' bothers you, you can just call it a 'mental journey') I believe it was a success. Totally trippy experience. I will try it again tonight. (thanks for the cd clint!)
  • I am calmingly and courageously affirming that I WILL pass my anatomy final tomorrow. (It's the last one of this term!!)
  • To help insure this, I have bought myself a lucky bamboo plant, (two stems, because two stems brings good news... or so I am told. I have also bought a focus rock, and royal vitality tea. I never got around to finding a four leaf clover though.....
  • Still no coffee... going on three weeks..? I really don't have an addictive personality. Can't believe I'm surviving off only 4-6 hours of sleep a night. Work, school, sleep, work school sleep. I'm exhausted just thinking about it.
  • I recently discovered my new girlfriend and I have the same obsessive love for Paris!!! (yes, paris hilton. just don't even ask) So I proposed to her, and she said yes. I am so happy to have met her! :)
  • Another friend of mine just noted that she plans to move away in a just a few months. Makes me sad, but it makes her happy, therefore I am happy for her.
  • I got in trouble this weekend (on Saturday) for having a Disney sing-a-long in my apartment after midnight. Oops... how can that be controlled? You must BELT out Disney tunes! "some people work tomorrow!!" Oh really, I thought in Utah, NO ONE worked on Sunday. duh.
  • Out of sheeeeer curiosity, I joined Twitter. I know, I know, I said I never would... I might even just delete it... but I figure I'll check it out for a minute.
  • I need to dance.
  • I miss free time. (what is that again?)
  • I should ABOSOLUTELY be in bed right now. Or at least still studying. But I needed a mental break. ...before I have a mental break-down. ha?

Some Beach, Somewhere

Some beach, somewhere
There's a big umbrella casting shade over an empty chair.
Palm trees are growin',
A warm breeze is blowin',
I picture myself right there,

On some beach, somewhere.

There's nowhere to go
And you've got all day to get there.
There's cold margaritas and hot senioritas
Smiling with long dark hair,
On some beach, somewhere.

There's a beautiful sunset burnin' up the atmosphere.
There's music and dancin' and lovers romancin'
The salty evenin air,

On some beach, somewhere.

Great quote from the movie
"Airborne"

[buzzer sound] Wrong.

Wiley:
He was gay?

Mitchell Goosen:

Blood

I cut my finger instead of the apple. (I shouldn't be allowed to play with knives...especially sharp ones.) Since I just finished learning about our blood in school, I became WAY super fascinated by the wound. Somehow I gave myself a blood blister, but cut the side open.. So it was a bleeding blood blister. How is that possible? Never heard of such a thing. (I'll have to ask my teach) I wrapped it and held it tight to stop the blood... but I couldn't stop unwrapping it and inspecting every little blood droplet. -I still want to peel the band-aid off and have a look.- I can just picture all of my tiny little fighter cells swimming to the wound to help cauterize it. I now look at my body in a very "Osmosis Jones" style. Like a big cartoon city living inside of me. I didn't wanna waste too many of my nutrients pouring from the opening in my finger, so I even licked the blood off my cut. --Uh-oh... did I just get EVEN creepier then I already am?!?

-First step to vampirism: drink human blood-
Check!

[Speaking of vampires... There is a funeral service this weekend for a lady by the name of, BELLA EDWARDS!!! For realz. Isn't that funny?!? I wonder if she got the connection of her name and the Twilight phenomena the last couple years..?]

I also learned in school that it would be more beneficial for us to be drinking cow's blood as oppose to cow's milk.
I'll admit it, I do love milk. Mom loves milk, therefore, I drank a lot of milk with Mom. I switched to organic milk a few years ago to make myself feel a little better about the consumption of liquid coming from another animals teet. I know its disgusting. And I know that it has no health benefits what-so-ever... but damnit I love the taste. HOWEVER, from here on out, I will be switching to rice milk. Soy milk is good... but to me it's too thick and sweet.. more like a dessert drink. But I do LOVE soy milk in coffee. Speaking of coffee I have gone over 2 weeks without a drop of it. Not that I was really addicted to coffee before... but I sure did love my morning cup.

I am glad that I don't have to give a massage tonight... and hope that this thing heals up by tomorrow when I do. We have that liquid band-aid stuff at my work, which I am more than excited to use for the first time.

That's all my ramblings for now. Thanks to boredom at work.

P.S. I will be watching Osmosis Jones this weekend, as it so highly pertains to what I am learning in A&P. And may I also just say that I think that it is a highly underated movie that is not only hilarious, but educational too. And more movies need to be made like this. People who take A&P all over the world would be grateful.
Just like my idea/plan to do a 'School House Rock' for Anatomy. "Anatomical Jam" that's what I'm gonna call it. It'll make me a fortune! And don't you dare steal my idea!!!
